Barra is Hiring

March 29, 2019

Dear Colleagues,

Since 2014 when we launched our Strategic Plan, we have done our best to listen and adapt as we have implemented that plan.   Until recently, we had two Program Officers: one overseeing Education and Arts & Culture and another overseeing Health and Human Services.  These Program Officers managed both Barra Awards and Catalyst Fund grants.

Over the past several weeks, we have taken the opportunity to pause, reflect on what we have learned and re-think our staffing configuration.   As we look to hire two people in the coming weeks, our program staff configuration will change:

The attached job descriptions outline the two positions we are aiming to hire, with the assistance of Criterion Search Group.

In this new configuration, our Barra Awards and Catalyst Fund will continue to provide grants in Arts & Culture, Education, Health and Human Services.  Kristi Poling and the Program Officer (to be hired) will focus solely on the Catalyst Fund.  Kristi will continue to manage the Arts & Culture Catalyst Fund grants; the Program Officer will manage Health, Human Services and Education Catalyst Fund grants.  The Senior Program Officer, Learning and Network (to be hired) will manage the Barra Awards process and portfolio as well as learning across the Barra network.  (These changes will not take place until June when new staff are hired.  For now, please continue to work as you have with Kristi Poling and Ana Lisa Yoder, our Interim Program Officer.)

We see these changes as an opportunity to improve our work in a few ways: 1) better support our Catalyst Fund grantees during and after their grants; 2) more effectively tap into the expertise of our diverse network of Barra Awardees and Nominators; and, 3) provide additional “Beyond the Money” resources and learning opportunities within and across our entire grantee network.

If you would like to apply for either of the positions or have questions about them, please contact Criterion Search Group via email at administrator@criterionsg.com.  If you have any general comments or questions about the staffing changes, please send an email to info@barrafoundation.org.

Please join me in congratulating Kristi Poling on her upcoming new role at Barra.  We are excited for this next chapter!

Best regards,
